Prof. Akhilesh Tyagi the Chairman Board of Governors of Shriram Scientific and Industrial Research Foundation, of which Shriram Institute for Industrial Research is a unit.
Prof. Akhilesh Kumar Tyagi is a distinguished plant biologist who pioneered genome-wide sequencing projects in rice, tomato, and chickpea, marking a turning point for high-throughput genomics in India.
Prof. Tyagi had served as Director of the National Institute of Plant Genome Research and Executive Director-in-Charge of the National Agri-food Biotechnology Institute. He is a recipient of National Bioscience Award, one of the highest Indian Science Award. Presently he is a senior professor in the Department of Plant Molecular Biology, University of Delhi, South Campus.
