Training and Capacity Building

Training, capacity building, and handholding in water, environment, and climate change are structured initiatives designed to enhance the knowledge, skills, and abilities of individuals and organizations. These programs aim to promote sustainable, resilient, and equitable management of natural resources, with a focus on implementing practical, evidence-based solutions. Key verticals of training, capacity building, and handholding are:

  • Water Safety and Security
  • Climate Resilient WASH
  • Solid Waste Management including Waste-to-Energy
  • Water and Wastewater Treatment
  • Plastic Waste and E-waste Management
  • Occupational Health and Safety Management
  • Environmental Impact Assessment
  • Environmental, Social, and Governance

The National Jal Jeevan Mission, Ministry of Jal Shakti empaneled SRI as a ‘Key Resource Centre (KRC)’ to provide training and capacity-building support to Public Health Engineering/ Rural Water Supply Departments across India. SRI’s delivered 35 training programmes (10 online, 25 physical/ classroom) during 2021-24 to build the capacity of 1,200 Chemists, Microbiologists, and Public Health Engineers in 28 States and Union Territories of India.

SRI is empaneled by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) as Swachhta Knowledge Partner (SKP) for the period 2024-27 to provide technical support and training and capacity building support to Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in India in areas such as solid waste management, waste to wealth/ waste to energy, used water management, development of city action plans etc. The SRI’s Contribution in Swachhta Hi Seva Campaign

SRI is empaneled as the Training Hub by Indian Sugar & Bio-Energy Manufacturers Association (ISMA) and the Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB), Switzerland, for Capacity Building Training of ‘Cane-to-Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF)’ value-chain for Enhancing Sugar Industry Readiness for SAF Production. The training and capacity building programs are to be conducted as per the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Schemes for International Aviation (CORSIA) standards to achieve the Climate and Net Zero Targets.
